No offense!

We were playing cards the other night and Aidan made a comment about how he and I don't ever win. He then looks at me and says, "No fence!" He said it pretty fast so I didn't really catch it but Josh did! We had such a laugh telling him that it was "no offense" not "no fence."

The other funny thing he says is "ashley" for "actually". Nobody really notices it in conversation though. Wait until he writes it in something at school!

Blizzard pics

The storm blew in at noon at our house! This is what it looked like when it started:
Here is only 1 hour later:

Five hours later:

It snowed all night long and here's what I woke up to the following morning:

What happened to the ruler?

I apologize for the window screen but I wanted to show you one of the drifts on the side of our house:

Crazy huh? The storm blew out of here around 10 am! I have a driveway to shovel now!

Stupid snowstorm

It's cancelled our weekend getaway! We were planning on driving to Albuquerque to meet up with Josh's mom and his brother for a long weekend. Thought we had it all worked out by delaying it a day and a half but she called this morning and cancelled! Bummer, but she might have made the best choice. It would have been risky to travel, only 4 hours into it and our interstate is closed. I've taken pictures and will post those in a bit. Stay tuned!

Another book review!

Just finished reading "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle" and absolutely loved it! It's another long book but it was a moving story and really interesting. Full of suspense!

New purchase

I hated our previous area rug in the living room because it was extremely hard to vacuum due to the raised design on it and it was a solid color and showed every little piece of grass, dirt, or hair.
Here's our new rug:
This is kind of out there for me but I'm loving it. I've been told by a few people that our house was a bit bland. I don't think so anymore!

Tristan picked this rug almost immediately in the store but of course I had to go through every one available and compare it with one of our pillows to get a good match. 45 minutes later I went with the one he picked in the first place. Hmmmm, maybe he's got an eye for that kind of thing? (Our couches look a bit weird in this lighting but they are a light tan.)

Sick boys playing soccer!

My boys are sick and have not wanted to pass up on anything yet! They had their games yesterday and really hung in there like champs!

Aidan's game was first in Denver. This was the start of his season and man did he start with a bang! 3 goals, they call this a hat trick in which anyone who is wearing a hat takes it off and throws it on the field. This is what happened for my sweet Aidan. Awesome! His team ended up winning their first game 4-2!

Back to the Springs we go for Tristan's game. I was a bit more worried for him because he's a day or two behind Aidan with the cold and he was facing the #2 team in the state. They've never beat them before until yesterday, 1-0! Tristan pretty much had an easy game - he hung out in the defense and didn't move around much. They call his position "the sweeper" because he's the last person to get past until you reach the goalie. Luckily he didn't have that much action yesterday and when they did get past him they made a mistake or the wind became a factor. (We had 30 mph wind yesterday afternoon!) His team is 2-0 and you can see them sitting atop their division for the first time ever at http://www.csysa.org/schstand/IS09/80_5_21.html! (3Lions)

The boys have also finished up archery and I'm happy to share that Aidan won 2nd place for the 3rd grade in their competition!

Lone Ranger

I'm the only one left in the house who isn't sick yet! Tristan and Josh came down with it yesterday. NO!!!!

By the way - I mentioned T's science project last week and we finally have mold! It only took 15 days. I've never been so happy to see mold in my life!

Aidan has cooties.

Some sort of cold but the only symptom so far is a barking cough. I know the barking cough makes you think of croup but for some reason when the boys get sick they always have a barking cough. Anyway, he's kind of losing his voice but other than that seems fine. I've asked him the past two mornings if he'd like to skip archery but he hasn't so he must feel okay, he just sounds horrible when he coughs.

Josh and I have that weak feeling in our bodies so I hope we are able to fight off whatever virus this is. But I'm so tired!

Gotta brag!

Isn't that what most of this blog is anyway? Bragging about the boys?

Tristan found out that he made his school's track team in the long jump and the 200 meters! He was so excited when he got home yesterday, WOOOOHOOOO!

Not like we don't have enough stuff going on. That was one of the thoughts that ran through my head but I kept it to myself. Ha!

Let's start the week off well!

Good morning from Aidan and Opal!

TGIF

Anyone else drag themselves out of bed this morning? I had to force myself to get up and see if it had snowed enough for a school delay. We did have the snow but not the delay, ugh! It's funny, you can tell how hard of a time I had getting myself to work by what I'm wearing. For instance - today I have on a track suit and tennis shoes. I would have worn jeans if I thought I could have gotten away with it. I get to sleep in tomorrow, yahooooo!

Fly-by Week

I've wanted to post for a while but haven't had the time to do it! Here's a recap of some things:

The boys and I watched Australia this weekend! Loved it! Expected it to be a love story but it was so much more! Great movie for biracial children, Nullah stole the movie.

We had an awesome full moon earlier this week. I was going to take a picture to share with you guys but got home and American Idol stole my attention, that thought was long gone until the next morning - ha! I have a favorite on the show already:

Danny it is!

We are starting that crazy schedule with soccer and everything else we can squeeze in on top. Every night we have some sort of activity to be at!! Even the mornings right now. The boys signed up for archery at their school which is great but it means they have to be there at 7:40 instead of our normal 8:40, it makes things a bit tough in the mornings. (Mostly because they don't want to go to bed earlier in the evenings - what sense would that make?)

We are working on science projects right now. They aren't due until after Spring Break but I like getting things done ahead of time. I'm having a bit of a problem with Tristan's though - we are working with bread mold and I can't get any to grow! Funny how it happens when you don't want it too. It's been 12 days now and nothing. I think a large part of the problem is that I went and bought new bread at the store for the experiment so it will take a lot longer since it wasn't close to the expiration date. OMG! Stupid me.

Pic to share

What an awesome picture even if he hates his basketball team! Just had to share it with you guys. Don't worry - he only has one more game and then he's done.

T was supposed to start his outdoor soccer season yesterday but wouldn't you know it, his game was cancelled due to the surprising snow storm we got at 9 am! I couldn't believe it, one minute I'm looking outside at cloudy conditions and the next I look to see snow pratically coming down sideways. Crazy!

Bye Bye!

So long T.O. See ya!

I'm surprised we let him go but I'm also happy! I've never been a fan of his and I'm glad Jerry Jones has woken up.

How much you want to bet he goes to Washington now so that we have to play against him twice a year? I wouldn't put it past him!

Adios, #81.

Soccer tournament update and other stuff.

Tristan's team got a head start on their spring soccer season by playing in a tournament this past weekend. I wish that I had better news but they got 3rd again. Kind of ironic because we were the 3rd team in our division and the top two teams went to the championship. Our push came a little too late, we tied our first two games and won the third 9-0. We felt some pressure knowing that in our last game we had to have a shut-out to get the points we needed to tie for 2nd place. We did it but lost the tie-breaker in # of wins. Bummer!!! Anyway, T played well. 4 goals for a defensive player!

My foot was swollen for a few days. The first two days I wore my slippers. Yep, out everywhere I went - even all day Saturday at the park for the tournament. Sunday I progressed to flip flops but it was chilly so I covered up in a blanket. Monday, I wore some clogs to work and today I have on some tennis shoes. Finally! I didn't expect the swelling but I'm getting better. It's a little itchy now so I'm getting there!

A little news for you:

I hope this is real - I think it's the coolest thing ever. It's supposed to be a pink albino dolphin that was spotted in Louisiana.
