Rainbow cloud

The boys spotted this today on the way home from summer school. It was the last day for Aidan and we all went together to celebrate! He's so excited to finally be done! The cloud was surrounded by the rainbow and the boys thought it looked like an angel so I had to share it with you.

I'm a bit tired lately and looking forward to our weekend getaway. Mount Rushmore - here we come!

Anyone ever seen a viral rash? Aidan had a cold all last week and Friday I noticed he had a slight rash on his cheeks but it wasn't too bad. Monday afternoon it was worse and had spread all over his body. I took him in to get it checked and it's just a viral rash, basically a cold of the skin. His body's reaction to the cold he had last week. She said he could have it for about a week but it's not a big deal really. Thank goodness it doesn't itch and he's so lucky to have dark skin, you can't really see it unless you look at an angle.

RIP MJ

Unbelievable! I'm in shock.

I've loved Michael Jackson since I was little. Had his tapes, cd's, and he's still on my mp3 player.
The boys even love him and have Man in the Mirror on their players. We were jamming it a few weeks ago at a soccer tournament.

I have to say that I'm glad to see the respect and honor being shown to him today. The radio station I listen to has based their whole morning show on him. Too bad people couldn't have shown him this much love during his lifetime.

Soccer Manager Nightmare

It was inevitable that something bad would happen huh?

Got a call from another team manager on Monday at 3:30 and we're talking about practice t-shirts (that's another issue in of itself) and she mentions being on her way to the soccer complex for an age-group practice that starts at 4:30. I ask, "What age-group practice?" She says, "Ours, didn't you get the email?"

No, I didn't get the email so I get off with her quickly and call our coach to ask him about it. He's on his way to the complex also because of course we have an age-group practice and our team is supposed to be there along with the other 3 teams who got the email and are probably already on their way. He tells me, "I sent you the email. I'm not sure why you didn't know about it. Please try to give everyone a call and see if they can make it."

It's now 3:45 and I'm calling our entire team (15 families) to tell them about something that is happening in 45 minutes. This is too crazy. No one can make it with this short of a notice and I look like a complete idiot but I make all of the calls and get Tristan and his friend Joel there with 1 minute to spare. 2 others from our team made it also but this wasn't the showing the coaches had expected. (See, our team rosters aren't official yet. There can still be movement within the 4 teams, which is why they like to take a look at everyone together.)

After the practice our coach does come up to me on his knees and apologize because he checked his email and my address wasn't on it. His fault!! Yes, some redemption here I hope. The following day he sends out an email to our team with an apology and total acceptance of responsibility. Whew, see - I don't want to lose everyone's trust before our season even starts.

Needless to say - I've set up our phone tree system so that if/when this happens again I can make one phone call and the company sends the message out to everyone on the list.

Farrah

Remember when I said a while ago that the Farrah Fawcett special on TV really touched me? I just heard on the radio that she passed away today. Of course I don't know her but hearing that made me sad.

There's a special on 20/20 this week (I think it's tomorrow) with Barbara Walters about her.

Being a mom is hard sometimes...

I hate it when the boys make a super bad choice.

Being a mom sometimes really sucks.

I can't go into too many details but it involved other children at our house, making phone calls to their parents after the discovery of the incident, a conversation with all of the boys who were involved, more conversations with parents once I dropped off the boys to their homes, and even more conversations with my own children.

Woah.

Movie catch-up

I just had my first weekend off from soccer activites (or any activities at all really) in I don't know how long! It rained alot here so I got to watch a few movies:

Catch & Release was one of those movies that I've had for a long time just sitting around. I never had the desire to really watch it but I popped it in on Saturday and I loved it! It held my attention the entire time and I thought it was a great story. I definitely recommend it, family friendly and sweet.

Josh and I watched The Family that Preys Saturday night and loved it also! We both liked it which means it must be really good, ha! I love Tyler Perry movies for the most part but Josh likes the plays. Anyway, this is a good movie. I had no idea what to expect in the ending but it didn't disappoint.

I caught this movie on TV last night and I have to say that I watched it mainly because Jesse Williams was so darn cute! He plays a nude model for an art school - need I say more?

Awards!

Jen has handed out a few awards and I'm so excited! These are a first for me!!!

Party girls: her favorite blogs got -

How appropriate since I absolutely love Margaritas! We can never have too many ladies nights! Thanks Jen!

Now to pass this on I have to nominate:

Nancy - I check her blog daily but she's missing in action right now! I love her writing ability and wish I had a bit more of her schnarkyness to spice things up a bit but ya know, I don't, so no biggie. We are really different, in fact she would probably get along with my sister Shell better than I but she's here in the Springs. It's cool to read about what she's been doing around town and her experiences. Miss ya Nancy!

Jurl - ahh, Jurl. I don't remember how I found her blog but she's hilarious and reminds me of home. She lives in the big D (Dallas) and her video blogs crack me up. Seems like she's missing in action lately also so I hope this will trigger a post from her.

Jen - It wouldn't be right to not give this to Jen. She's the one who found me and I'm so glad she did! I love keeping up with all the activity in her family and she's a very inspiring woman! She just ran a marathon!

The second award was the:

This one I have to pass on to Shell! Unfortunately she doesn't have a blog but I'm extremely lucky that she checks mine daily and always leaves some sort of comment. I didn't start this blog for the comments but I will tell you that the comments are what have kept me going. If I didn't think anyone was reading it I probably wouldn't post as much so thanks Shell, you are the best!

My other comment superstars are Steph, Mom and Lavon. Other family members who also don't have blogs but I'm glad that they keep an eye out on mine. It's been a wonderful way to keep everyone clued into our lives.

Weird weather

The boys and I were in the grocery store yesterday when this horribly strong storm appeared out of nowhere! Rain coming down practically sideways, thunder, and apparently hail. People wouldn't leave the store because they didn't want to walk out in it, it was that bad. Lucky for us we had just started our shopping but we did feel completely guilty that our little girl was outside in it. Thank goodness for her doghouse!

Here's some of the remains of the storm:
It was hail but it felt just like snow. Crazy!!
On another note: here's some more goofy pictures I found on my phone this week:
I think he's trying to do a mean face but it's not working!

This one is honestly a bit scary to me. What an evil look in his eyes.

So sick of being sick.

Who has time to be sick? I definitely don't and it sucks!

Tristan had a little summer cold early last week but either he's much stronger than I am or I've got something different. Yeah, he's probably stronger than me but whatever.

I've had to just suck it up and go along with all of our activities which included: work as usual, 7 hours of a soccer tournament on Saturday, shopping for our end of season soccer party on Sunday and then the party, an hour and a half at the soccer store for our team's uniform appt Monday evening, and back to work today.

I haven't slept well in about 5 days so I hope to get some rest tonight. The boys are going to a sleepover - yeah!

Summer School

Well, we've started and I can't tell you how proud I am of Aidan. He's such a brave little guy! He turned down our offer to drive him the first day and make sure he got to where he needed to be on time and just rode the bus. (It's held at a different school than where he normally attends.)

He also found out that he won't have any homework unless he doesn't finish his class work and his teacher is super nice! Yeah!!!

What a relief for us all! I was feeling a little guilty for making him go but now I know it was the right decision.

Happy Birthday Ani!

We can't believe you are 3 today!

Hope you have a wonderful day! We love ya!
