Summer School

Well, we've started and I can't tell you how proud I am of Aidan. He's such a brave little guy! He turned down our offer to drive him the first day and make sure he got to where he needed to be on time and just rode the bus. (It's held at a different school than where he normally attends.)

He also found out that he won't have any homework unless he doesn't finish his class work and his teacher is super nice! Yeah!!!

What a relief for us all! I was feeling a little guilty for making him go but now I know it was the right decision.

I didn't know Aidan was going to summer school! And you totally right to be so brave to do that on his own without any help. Glad to hear his teacher is nice and that he won't be swamped with work at home. How long will he go and when and what for, etc...??

Oh my goodness, I really thought that I had written about this but I didn't! Sorry girls!

He didn't have to go to summer school but it was open to him because he has an individual literacy plan in place through his school. (Basically he gets extra help, tutoring outside of the classroom.)

He's always struggled with reading and writing and is right below grade level and I just wanted him to get that extra little help to maybe make 4th grade a little easier. It doesn't hurt to have another teacher work with him either in case they have better ideas or what not to reach him.

It was $80 and they transport him to the school. He goes 8:15 - 11:15, Monday through Friday until July 1st!

He was mad at me for a few weeks for making him go but so far so good! It was one of those difficult mommy decisions we have to make from time to time.

I think that was the best decision made ever! Good for him and good for you! Very beneficial and any extra tutoring is always best.. no matter where the kids are.. we all want the best for them so when we can do what we can to help them excel, we should. I am glad it does not eat all of his day up too. :)

Tell Aidan--Nana says Yeah--Go Aidan. I'm super glad the teacher is so nice--that will make it so much better. I know this was a good decision and I hope it really makes all the difference in the world for him.
He's such a trooper and I'm very proud for him.......
