Rare opportunity

Tristan got to ride a horse! Not just any horse either, this is Parker. He's a show horse, one that competes in jumps and stuff. The cute gal leading Parker is Arden. From what her mom tells me - she wins a lot in the horse shows with Parker.

He was excited but a little scared too!

Allergic reaction vs some sort of bite?

So last Friday, Tristan woke up (around 10 am) looking like this. The right side of his face swollen and red. The only complaint he had was that his eye was "folded up and he couldn't see well."

Josh got home an hour or so later and I knew it was bad when he told me to go ahead and see if we could get him an appointment that afternoon. We weren't sure if he had an allergic reaction to something or if he might have been bitten while he was sleeping.

The doctor thought it was an allergic reaction but honestly couldn't be positive. He said to keep up the benadryl and add ice to take down the swelling. He thought Tristan would be fine in a few days. He did question us a bit and after talking it out we think it was an allergic reaction to some sort of weed from the front yard. The day before the boys were picking weeds in the flower beds and Tristan said that Aidan threw one at him. Bingo!

When you don't use gloves while picking weeds or shower that evening you might just wake up looking like this! Guess he's got a pass from weeding for a while!

Luckily the next morning he was completely better. He went on to play in a soccer tournament and get 3rd place!

Our 4th!

What a nice quiet fourth of July we had! We didn't do too much (I worked five hours) and got a chance to spend some time at home to rest. I made chicken enchiladas for dinner and because of the fire ban here we didn't see many fireworks. The boys lucked out and had some leftover sparklers from last year.

Pax's first 4th! He ate away most of his day!
