Big day tomorrow!

I know they aren't in the NBA yet but tomorrow is a big day for Tristan and he kind of feels like he is. His team has made the playoffs and he plays his first game at 8 am! If they win - they continue to move on. If they lose the first game, he plays a consolation game but then his basketball season is over. (And he'll make it to his soccer game in the afternoon.)

Aidan started his basketball season last weekend and has a game tomorrow afternoon also. He's playing with his soccer team which is hilarious to all of us parents. They've never played basketball before and it's difficult to get used to playing with your hands instead of your feet. You'll sometimes see them use their head with the basketball instead of grabbing for it - it's too funny! They lost their first game but you have to give them credit for playing the best team on only 2 hours of practice and they were so spunky! It's an understatement to say that they are physical. They might not look graceful in basketball but you can tell they are athletes.

Anyway - busy day but I hope to get a few pictures to post this weekend! Hope you all have a great one.

Happy Birthday Mom!

It's my mom's birthday today and although we've already talked I just wanted to send her my happy wishes again!

Hope that you have a great day Mom! (Your delivery should have looked something like this!)

911

I can not believe that I am about to write this:

Aidan called 911 and hung up Sunday morning! I never thought that one of them would do this because they've had two friends who have done this before and we've heard their stories. Our neighbors had a policeman actually come to their house because of the calls and another friend was actually taken to the police station because of his pranks.

When they called the house back I was shocked when she said, "We just received a 911 call from this number." Woah! I looked at both of them and asked, "who did it?" They both denied it but once I started thinking straight I knew Tristan had been upstairs with me so it had to have been Aidan. "Aidan it was you," is all I said before he lowered his face into his hands.

She took my name and address and cancelled the call - thank you God! I thought they might come out to talk to Aidan anyway but they didn't. It was freezing and snowy outside so maybe that factored in.

Aw man! What a way to start your Sunday morning and I had only been up 30 minutes. He really doesn't have a good reason/excuse for doing this except that he wanted to see what would happen. He got that! He also lost his birthday party that I was to schedule that afternoon. (We had just chosen the location and made the list of people to invite the day before.)

I can't believe I took away his birthday party but I did and I have to stick with my decision. This sucks big time!

Surprise!

Thank you all so much for your calls, emails, and texts yesterday on my special day! I really appreciate everything and I had a great day.

I only worked a few hours and then left to have a great seafood lunch with Josh. It was the first time in forever to be able to go to this certain restaurant and would you believe that I had to sit right next to Ted Haggard? That was uncomfortable for me a bit but also interesting. I could hear almost everything he said we were so close.

Anyway - the highlight of my day and something that I definitely didn't expect was that my dad called me to wish me a Happy Birthday. I've been known to say in the past that I don't think my dad knows my phone number or even when my birthday is so I'm eating my words right now. And you know what? It's perfectly okay. I'm glad that I'm eating those words because that phone call was awesome and made my day. It's the little stuff that feels so big sometimes.

Let's begin again!

"Let's pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and begin again..."

This is my favorite part of his speech from this morning's inauguration. I'm fortunate enough to have been able to watch this on the internet at work so I haven't missed too much. Man, what an awesome day!

I found myself excited for this day and all of the events last night. Now, this was a first for me! I couldn't wait for things to begin this morning.

I'm excited, hopeful, and so very optimistic! I can't wait to "begin again" and hope that you feel the same way too. WoooHooo!

Martin Luther King Jr.

It's Martin Luther King Jr. Day and school's out while I'm at work. Bummer! But after working all weekend at least Josh is able to spend some time alone with the boys. Plus I was able to watch Tristan's soccer game this morning before work. Can't complain too much huh?

We had a great weekend. I didn't get to do much for myself but I love doing things for the boys. I was the boy's chauffeur on Saturday. Soccer game at 7:45, basketball at 10:00, lunch, soccer at the park at 2:00, then church at 6:00. Sunday was the first day in a week that I could sleep in so I did that and then got ready to take Aidan to a birthday party from 1:00 to 4:30. T had a friend spend the night last night and now today will be a prep day for the rest of our week.

M.L.K's dream is hitting an unbelievably high point tomorrow! I'm so excited!

Sorry for the delay.

The game was a blast! Everything worked out for us - no problems. Parking was easy, we found a place to have dinner, got into the stadium with plenty of time before the game, and made our way home with hardly any traffic troubles. Piece of cake!
I sat right behind the guy who took care of their towels and drinks. This is what I got to look at until the game started!

Towel warmer!

Chris "Birdman" Anderson who had an awesome night! (He's the one in blue.) He even made a half court shot!

Tristan watching and doing his norm!

Game introductions! JR Smith and Kenyon Martin with a really high five.

For the Dallas fans out there! Dirk was on fire but we still pulled away with the win!

Aidan watching! He didn't say more than five words during the entire evening! Complete awe!

Carmelo in the suit with the black collar. He has a broken hand right now so didn't play but he was sitting right in front of us!

Nene! We were so close it was crazy. And a bit hard to see when the tallest person in your family is 5'6 and everyone in front of you is at least 6' tall!

Kenyon Martin. He gave us the biggest surprise of the night! At the end of the game one of their personnel came over and gave Aidan his arm band with his number on it and his arm sleeve that he wore during the game. That was a shocker and definitely something he will keep forever.

Chauncey! Aidan's favorite player. Aidan sat right behind him.

The end of a long night. One that we will never ever forget!

Our big night!

In celebration of our anniversary but also just because we love to go -

We'll all be at the Denver Nuggets vs. Dallas Mavericks game tonight! If it happens to be on TV in your area you might just see us because our seats are supposed to be right behind the Nuggets' bench.

Pictures and update to come tomorrow hopefully. (I'm sure I'll be exhausted in the morning. But it'll be worth it!)

Happy Anniversary to my "One & Only"

14 years ago I married the love of my life! Happy Anniversary Honey! Here's to the rest of our lives together!

Why oh why?

I really don't understand my boys sometimes. Aidan got out of the shower last night and we were choosing Valentine's for next month when I looked up at his forehead and notice a shiny, red area right below his hairline.

"What happened to your forehead," I asked?

"He used the stone on it," Tristan says. "I saw it in the bottom of the tub so I know he did it."

Oh my goodness! You see, we aren't new to this. Tristan had some adhesive residue once on his forehead and decided to use the pumice stone I have in the shower to remove it. Only it removed that and a good layer of his skin. He had a scar for a couple of months. Tristan not only did this once but again a second time. We never understood the reasoning the second time around, unless of course he just enjoyed having that scab on his forehead.

"Why would you do that Aidan?" "I'm shocked after all of the trouble with Tristan and that stupid stone!"

"I wanted to see what it felt like," Aidan says. This is his only explanation.

Woah. I guess a pumice stone is too enticing to just leave it lying around. It will be put up from now on!

Notice my bookshelf?

I saw this on Jen's blog and wanted one for myself. I am a reader but lately I can't finish a book like I used to! Too busy! I love it though and try to get into a book when I have the time instead of staring at the TV. I'm reading East of Eden right now but I did just finish "The Road," by Cormac McCarthy. Yes, it's a dark and depressing story but I loved it! I couldn't put it down and couldn't wait to find out how it ended. I definitely recommend it.

Boys will be boys.

Can you believe this? My coupon from Tristan was for cleaning the house and Dad's was for playing the video game. Aidan got this.

Josh so wanted to laugh about it but he said it wasn't funny. It is kind of funny.

Don't know what to say!

I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not! I've been thinking about blogging for two days now and I don't have anything to talk about! Not much is going on here, we haven't gone anywhere, no activities - just work.

The boys are back in school and we are trying to get back into our sleep routines. We have enjoyed two weekends straight with no activities and have slept in quite a bit. That means staying up later at night and now we are all off kilter! Hopefully it will work itself out by the end of the week.

Aidan finally brought his report card home yesterday. (I should have known something was up when it didn't come home at the same time as Tristan's.) He has a really nice teacher who is trying to help him along with things but the report card wasn't very good. We worked on homework for 2 hours last night and I realized my son doesn't even know how to look up a word in the dictionary. Lots of work in this area to come! I was told that it just takes some time for everything to all click in place and then he would be right on target but it's not clicking yet. Please pray for him and I; it's frustrating on both ends. For him because he doesn't like school and doesn't think it's that important. He does try hard for me - I really don't believe that a child decides, "hey, I'm going to suck at this/that." But he does suck and it's hard for me to understand how to get through to him when I never had those kind of problems in school.

Guess I did have something to talk about huh?

Happy New Year!

2009! Happy New Year to you all! I pray that 2009 will be the best year of our lives.

Hopefully you have the day off like myself and you can enjoy it with your family. (or put up Christmas decor like me)
