Miss me?
Believe it or not, I've meant to post something for the past few days but weird stuff has happened and I've been extremely busy!
I thought I might post about our soccer from this past weekend but out of four games we didn't have a single win. Just two ties and two horrible losses so obviously - I didn't have much to say about those!
The boys were suppposed to have their first ever track meet Monday night and I thought I would post the results and pictures. We got to the school in the wind and cold just to find out that they had double booked the field so of course we got the boot. (High school soccer definitely outranks elementary track.) What a bummer! Even though we were happy to not have to suffer in the weather; we were ready for the races.
I hate our weather here lately! Saturday and Sunday we had windy, cold, rainy conditions and then Monday morning we woke up to 2 inches of snow and fog so thick I thought I was driving through a cloud to work.
My volunteer/friend from work turned 80 today. I got her an answering machine/cordless phone system and was stoked about it. Unfortunately, it sounds like her house has some old fashioned type of phone wiring and we might not even be able to plug the darn thing in. I'm making a trip over there after work to take a look. (Were phone cords different in the 70's?)
My hubby is leaving on Saturday for 10 days again. I'm upset about it because there is so much going on and I need him here! If something goes wrong or I have difficulties with the schedules be aware that you might have to read me bitch a bit.
If T happens to make the 1st or 2nd soccer team at tryouts next month, I just found out that it will cost $1200 to $1800 a year for soccer. This is twice as much as I had planned on. Not sure what I think yet, I'll probably just wait and see where he lands and go from there. I did tell him that if he plays like he did on Sunday again I won't pay it at all and he can just play recreational soccer and not go competitive. Sounds mean huh? (He didn't give 100% and knew it.)
That's about it so far. We've got another busy weekend ahead with all of the soccer games being rescheduled. Five games in 3 days so I'll update after those. Hope to have good outcomes to share.

Update on Aidan
After our troubles last week I emailed the teacher immediately and here's her response:
Hi Shea,
Please don’t feel that this is at all a reflection on you and to be honest, Aidan’s infractions were minor in the greater scheme of things. I think I was just a little surprised because I am used to seeing a sweet and fairly responsible boy, and I do not want things to escalate. I think that the other students really look up to Aidan, and I want him to be a good role model for others as well. He did a great job today. I will keep you updated as we move forward.
Immediately I felt better because he did follow up our talk with a good day but also because I got the feeling that things weren't as bad as her first email had portrayed them to be. What do you think?
FYI - As far as I've heard, he's doing really well!

Disgusting and disturbing!
Oh my goodness! This bothers me so much, especially since I have a ten year old son.
TACOMA, WAsh. • A 33-year-old former elementary school teacher has been convicted of having sex with a 10-year-old student and his 15-year-old brother. Jennifer L. Rice faces more than 25 years in prison after being found guilty Monday of one count each of first-degree kidnapping with sexual motivation and first-degree child molesting and two counts of thirddegree child rape

So much fun!!!
But we are all so tired today! I really feel for the boys because not only did they have to get up earlier today for track but they both have soccer practice after school. Early bedtimes for us tonight!
Look at how tired Tristan looks before the game even started! (Start time was 8:30 p.m.) A little Mountain Dew later and some exciting basketball and he was feeling better. Sorry for the up your nose shot of myself - it wasn't intentional.
Very cool to see the Playoffs label on the court.

A snow cone makes the night super!
Look at all of the people! Everyone got a white towel and there were lots of times that they were all swinging!
Lil' Wayne was the most famous person there! He's in the middle with the black hat, black glasses, lifting his drink. Once the mascot let everyone know that he was there the poor man didn't have much privacy to enjoy the game. You should have seen the old white men coming over to get their pictures taken with him, ha!

I've seen it all!
Thunder and lightning in a snowstorm!
I had originally taken today off to get my hair cut but that had to be rescheduled due to this nasty storm we are in the middle of. Everything is starting to close down now - the school's that did open this morning have all closed as of noon or 1 p.m, church's are closed, Josh got to the main gate to only find out they had closed the base so he had to turn around and come home (aw, he was so disappointed), and there were proms scheduled for tonight that are now cancelled!
Today is the first day ever that the boys had a school closure they didn't want! Guess why? Dodgeball in PE!

I'm much better now!
Okay, the previous junk that ruined my Easter is over so here's the new stuff:
I've lived in Colorado Springs for almost fourteen years and I've never gotten sick of the wintry weather until now. We have another snowstorm coming tonight, just in time to ruin our weekend again! Last Saturday was snowy, rainy, and cold and here we go again. I'm really ready for it to be over!
Got an email from Aidan's teacher yesterday afternoon titled, "Concerns about Aidan." This obviously wasn't good news. He's got a negative, disrespectful attitude and was saying "crap" in the classroom. Ugh! He's in big time trouble and hopefully we'll be able to find our old Aidan again. I'm not sure if this is a phase that he's going through or the boys he's been hanging out with at school. He's a trash talker pretty much now, which reminds me of his father and uncles.
Just bought Nuggets tickets for the first game of the playoffs Sunday evening. I think I got a good deal and they are being overnighted to us so as long as I don't have a problem getting them tomorrow then we are set. How this works into Aidan's punishment I'm not sure yet but I couldn't leave him out.
Just got a call that practice is cancelled tonight - it's misting and windy. I repeat, here we go again.

Did you have a good Easter?
Ours was snowy, are you surprised?
Here's where I wished we would have been:
Can you believe that green grass and obviously warm weather? The boys would have really enjoyed it.
Without going into any details, my Easter really sucked eggs. I hope yours was better.

New school pics!
And I'm in love with them! They both did such a good job and I'm ecstatic that the photographer at the school took such great photos!

Look! Look!
For those of you who really know my hubby you know he's been a nail biter his entire life! His mom told me that nothing ever worked, the bitter stuff you put on the nails, hot sauce, gloves, even band-aids. And it's not just the nails but also everything around them so he had these scratchy stubs that hurt after playing a game of basketball or would cut me up like Freddy Krueger.
Look at them now:
Isn't it amazing? It just goes to show you that he had to be the one to make the decision to quit. It's something that he really wanted to do and he put his mind to it. I'm really proud of him! He even treated himself to his first ever manicure, yes - a manicure, I'm dead serious.
It's not just a bad habit either, I think it might be something in the genes. Tristan has done it also since he was 2. Now I know that if he ever wants to quit he can but it has to be his choice, not because I want him to.

Did you see?
I was watching the CMA's last night and the last presenter was Matthew McConaughey. He told a little story about how he's from Longview, Texas, and went to a concert one night at the Oil Palace in Tyler. Basically he fessed up to using George Straight's name in a story to score with some girls from the concert. Did you see or hear about it? I know I was probably the only one watching the CMA's but I love them.
That's crazy to hear of your little hometown at such a large event on TV!

JJ
Anyone listen to Jack Johnson?
I put him on my mp3 player mainly because he's listed under most popular artists on our music website. I just listened to his entire album, Sleep Through The Static, and I thought it stunk! (No fence Jack!) It would be great to go to sleep to but it's not something that helps me get through my work shift.
I love all kinds of music and I'm shocked that I didn't like him. Maybe I should give it one more try?
I've got Van Halen on now to wake me up!

April Fool's Day
Or as Aidan would say, "What's up Fool?" He picked that up from a friend but Dad hates it.
Skipped work to hang out with the boys and see Monsters vs. Aliens. It was okay, I don't enjoy watching animated films but since Dad is out of town this week it had to be me. The boys didn't love it either though. It was snowing again (big surprise) so at least it gave us something to get out and do!
